King John of England Wax Seal Stamp – Medieval Royal Emblem

This wax seal stamp is based on the emblem associated with King John of England, a Plantagenet ruler who reigned from 1199 to 1216. He was the youngest son of Henry II of England and Eleanor of Aquitaine, and succeeded to the throne following the reign of his brother Richard I of England.

His reign is associated with significant political tension between the Crown and the English baronage, as well as the loss of territories in continental Europe. These events contributed to major developments in the structure of royal governance in medieval England.

In 1215, a charter known as Magna Carta was issued during negotiations between the king and leading barons. Although initially contested, it later became an important reference point in the development of English legal and constitutional tradition.

This design reflects the style of medieval royal seals used for authenticating official documents during the early 13th century. John’s First Great Seal was in use for his whole reign, from 1199 to 1216.

📜 “No free man shall be seized or imprisoned, or stripped of his rights or possessions… except by the lawful judgment of his equals or by the law of the land.” — Magna Carta, 1215, clause 39

Each stamp is made of solid brass, supplied with a wooden handle and presented in a velvet pouch.
