King John of England Wax Seal Stamp – Medieval Royal Emblem
This wax seal stamp is based on the emblem associated with King John of England, a Plantagenet ruler who reigned from 1199 to 1216. He was the youngest son of Henry II and Eleanor of Aquitaine and succeeded to the throne following the death of his brother, Richard I.
His reign took place during a period of political tension between the Crown and the English baronage, as well as ongoing territorial conflict in continental Europe. These events significantly influenced the development of royal administration and governance in medieval England.
King John is closely associated with the sealing of Magna Carta in 1215, a charter issued during negotiations between the king and his barons. Although initially contested, it later became an important reference point in the evolution of English constitutional history.
This seal reflects the style of medieval royal emblems used for authentication of official documents and correspondence during the early 13th century.
