Henry II Great Seal Wax Stamp – Angevin Royal Emblem
This wax seal stamp is based on the Great Seal associated with Henry II of England, an early Plantagenet ruler and key figure in the development of medieval governance across England and continental territories.
Henry II ruled from 1154 to 1189 and held authority across England, Normandy, Anjou, and Aquitaine, forming what is often referred to as the Angevin realm. His reign is associated with major developments in legal administration and royal organisation, which influenced the structure of governance in later centuries.
He was the son of Geoffrey of Anjou and Matilda, Holy Roman Empress, and married Eleanor of Aquitaine, linking some of the most powerful dynastic houses of the medieval period. His children included Richard I of England and King John of England.
This design is based on Henry II’s equestrian great seal, showing him mounted in armour with regalia typical of 12th-century royal iconography. Such seals were used to authenticate official documents and represent royal authority across the Angevin domains.
The brass seal has a diameter of 50 mm.
