The Lamb of God "Agnus Dei" - Ecclesiastical Historical Wax Seal

Ecce Agnus Dei Wax Seal Stamp – Behold the Lamb of God

This wax seal stamp features the inscription "Ecce Agnus Dei", Latin for "Behold the Lamb of God", a phrase rooted in Christian liturgy and scripture. The expression originates from the words of John the Baptist upon seeing Jesus: "Behold the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!" (John 1:29). This imagery has been central to Christian art and symbolism, representing Jesus as the sacrificial lamb.

Historically, the Agnus Dei motif has appeared on various religious artifacts, including medieval seals. For instance, a 14th-century bronze seal matrix housed in the British Museum depicts the Agnus Dei with the accompanying legend, reflecting its significance during the medieval period.

This seal design captures the essence of medieval devotion and artistry, making it suitable for collectors, historians, or those interested in Christian symbolism.
