Royal Coat of Arms of the Netherlands – Wax Seal Stamp
This wax seal stamp features the modern Wapen van het Koninkrijk der Nederlanden – the Royal Coat of Arms of the Netherlands, officially adopted in its current form in 1907 by Queen Wilhelmina. It continues to symbolise the Dutch monarchy and national identity.
At the centre of the seal is the crowned shield bearing a rampant lion (Nederlandse Leeuw) clutching a sword and a sheaf of arrows – a direct reference to the earlier States General seal of 1579. The sword represents the power of the Dutch state to defend itself, while the arrows (originally seventeen, now fewer) represent the unity of the provinces. Supporting the shield are two golden lions, also crowned, standing guard over the realm. Above rests the royal crown of the Netherlands, used exclusively by the House of Orange-Nassau.
The motto inscribed in Latin, "Je maintiendrai" (I will maintain), is derived from the arms of the Châlon-Orange family and became part of the Dutch royal arms through the House of Nassau. It symbolises the enduring commitment of the monarch to the nation's sovereignty, freedom, and laws.
This seal is perfect for historical enthusiasts, heraldry collectors, or anyone with Dutch ancestry or interest in the Royal House of Orange. Use it to bring gravitas and heritage to your letters, documents, or creative projects.
