Great Seal of Henry V – Wax Seal Stamp
This wax seal stamp is based on the Great Seal of the Realm used by Henry V of England (1386–1422), one of the most iconic warrior kings in English history. Known in Latin as Henricus Quintus and in French as Henri V, he ruled from 1413 until his death in 1422, rising to legendary status for his military leadership during the later stages of the Hundred Years’ War.
The seal depicts Henry V as an armoured king on horseback, wielding a sword and bearing the royal arms of England quartered with France—symbolising his bold claim to the French throne. This powerful image was not merely symbolic: Henry’s military campaigns culminated in the Battle of Agincourt (1415), where his small English force achieved a stunning victory against overwhelming French numbers, immortalising him as a hero of medieval warfare.
Henry V’s seal reflects both his authority as monarch and his embodiment of knightly virtue and kingship. The inscription on his seal reads:
“HENRICUS DEI GRACIA REX ANGLIE ET FRANCIE DOMINUS HIBERNIE”
— Henry, by the Grace of God, King of England and France, Lord of Ireland.
This stamp pays tribute to a king whose life and legacy became the subject of Shakespearean drama, national pride, and chivalric legend. Whether used for correspondence or display, this seal evokes the high medieval world of honour, conquest, and royal ambition.
⚔️ “We few, we happy few, we band of brothers…”
(from Henry V by William Shakespeare)
