This wax seal stamp features the emblem of the British East India Company, also known as the Honourable East India Company (HEIC), a chartered trading organisation founded in 1600 under the authority of Queen Elizabeth I.
Created to support overseas commerce, the Company became one of the most influential trading bodies of the early modern period. Its seal and flag were widely used on correspondence, contracts, and official paperwork, serving as marks of authenticity and commercial authority across an extensive international trade network.
The design of this seal is based on historical examples used by the Company during the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries, reflecting the visual language of early modern maritime trade and corporate identity. Such seals played a practical role in securing documents and identifying official communications in an era when written authority relied on physical marks of validation.
